Hey everyone, how's things?!

Con season has been a bit slow this year.  Despite going to several more, it hasn't been a sgood.  Though I do have some personal hypothesis as to why, that's for a later rant.

Anyways, on to the con reports!

G Fest was the latest one, an as always it is a consistent blast to go.  So many of my fellow Kaiju artists, fans, and producers of kaiju material all in one place just boggles my mind still.  It's a massive family I get to see for a family reunion once a year.  I didn't get any merchandise other than art prints with other artists, including some stuff from :iconkaijusamurai:, who's if you ever meet him in person, Matt is a highly enthusiastic individual with a love for the fandom and the material.  It's always fun to talk with him.

SoDak was fun, always a good time to see my family in the area and my first Con Family as well.  Everyone is welcoming and I enjoy talking with all the artists and convention attendees.  And I get to check in on my grandma too!

Prior to that was Smallville Con.  And dear GEEK that thing has exploded in the last two years.  First year was an amazing time, and I missed last years due to a schedule conflict.  However this year was still fun, and I was in a heavily trafficked area, but did not make much.  Was able to pay for my hotel at least D:!  Although I did get my portfolio reviewed by Mark Winters, who gave me some great advice and it's nice to get a professional to review your work.  Even though it's not Magic the Gathering quality, it's still good go get that feed back.

In front of Smallville was Anime Alpha X.  Which may be a convention I avoid.  Nothing against the show itself, just some behind the scenes things I saw and the collection of artists and vendors there were a bit... underwhelming.  To be honest the con was not very well advertised in Sioux Falls.  Not like Siouxper Con (which was aaaaaaaaaamazing for a first year).

Planet Comic Con was a bit of a let down, considering the size of the venu.  But then again the size was part of the reason I didn't do very well.  Oh I had a lot of fun with friends, don't get me wrong, I don't get to hang out with the Wichita crew that much anyways, and there are a handful of cons I get to see my friends down there.  However next year I think I'm getitng my own table and promoting my new project.

So, what's the new Project you ask?!  Well if you click on the Patreon Link above you'll notice it no longer goes to ~DR Studios Patreon, instead it's going to a project called Marshal Star.  What is Marshal Star?  Marshal Star is a new webcomic that I am the creative lead for and main artist.  I'm joined by Declan Burke, as my writer and the two of us are tearing into a massive world that we built for it.  What's the genre?  Instead of the Giant Monster kaiju genre that I'm a large fan of, it's a bit smaller in scale so far.  Marshal Star is a Science-Fantasy, Western, Space Opera that's reminiscent of some of the older anime/manga from the mid 90's in style.  I am VERY excited about the project and we have been working on it since February, and getting it all ready for an August Release.

Heck if you check out the Patreon and support at the $25 range you can get a look at the comic a week early!  If you guys missed the teaser Comic this summer at my venues, then you can get to see the full thing before it goes live to the rest of the internet!  So stop on by, check out exclusive Patreon Content such as character sketches, page thumbnails and WIPs, and a proper introduction to the characters before anyone else!

Guns.  Magic.  The Frontier.  Marshal Star!
